1st Draft: Aftermath

Midterm Exam (Final Project) 1/20/2021 Portfolio Project: Film      After I finished all my final touches including the credits & trimming audios I exported and saved my film to my computer. Even with all the conflicts I faced throughout the duration of my project I managed to come out the other end extremely proud and delighted to present you my film.  Below is my final product:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B6vpjO7zDBs&feature=youtu.be

Production 7- Editing Process

Image
Beginning The Editing Process 1/16/2021      Today I imported all of my footage so I can start editing. My idea is to start off the film with the B-roll shots I got and continue with the characters and dialogue scenes in the second half.  B - roll is  the extra footage captured to enrich the story i plan on telling and to have greater flexibility when editing. Instead of featuring only talking faces on video, having other images you  can  cut away to that  will  add dimension to whatever the desired plot/ story might be. And in my opinion I think B-roll is the absolute best way to do so.      This is my first time using Adobe in about a year so although i'm quite familiar with the program I spent a few hours researching and watching different youtube tutorials with the intent to freshen up my brain on all the different tools and aspects the software has to offer.      With the plot change I made the wh...

Production 6- Working With PP

Image
Working With Adobe Premiere Pro 1/17/2021       For the past three or so years, i've been working on and off with Adobe programs, although it's been mainly premiere pro. Thankfully allowing me to have an easier experience with this project, when it comes to post production. Post production is my absolute favorite part of the film-making process. Every aspect of it amazes and interests me so much, and it's actually what I think I might want to do as part of my future career!     According to the website Master Class " Postproduction  is the editing of audio and visual materials to create a  film . An editor assembles footage shot by shot, adds music (either original or licensed), and incorporates other visual and sound effects. These elements are woven together to create a multi-sensory experience we call a  movie ."      Thankfully all the tools I needed to complete the editing process of my film w...

Production 5- Working with the actors

Image
Working with the actors! 1/15/2021    Fortunately, o ne of my closest friends is an actor and he is in a bunch of different acting groups with his school as well as out of school programs.  So thankfully he had friends willing to help and act in my project! They all are super talented, easy going people- so it was easy for me to work diligently with them.           Considering all of their experience in acting it only took two days in total to shoot all of the clips/ scenes that I needed in order to put together my film.  They all suggested different ideas they thought would create a more suspenseful plot for me, helping me finalize my ideas.      For instance, one of my actors suggested we include over the shoulder shots so the audience could get a better understanding of the plot. By giving the audience shots from different characters POV's. (point of views) (over the shoulder shot example from the 2007 movie ...

Production 4- Plot update

Image
Plot Update:  1/13/2021     Originally I had a concept that focused more on one specific family during the plot of the movie, but instead I have made the decision that i'm going to be a bit more general considering it's only the opening scene of the movie and just introduce the main character and his father. Instead of using the opening scene to develop characters i've decided i would rather take the opposite approach and set the plot and atmosphere for the rest of the scene.       The  setting  influences the  plot , which includes the  story's  events. And with that being said, certain actions are more likely to take place in specific environments. Taking the  story's  tone and theme into consideration it generally relies on its  setting . In addition, the  setting  would end up shaping the characters in the long run.      Research has shown that the different  ...

Production 3- Shooting Beginnings

Image
Shooting Beginnings  1/16/2021      This week (of January 4th-10th) I am beginning to plan out how everything is going to go down. I have come to almost a positive conclusion as to who's going to act in the opening scene of the movie i'm creating. A few of my good friends and parents, who love and enjoy acting are fortunately free and willing to assist me in my process.       My plan is to shoot the car scene this week as well as the hospital front shot, leaving the school scenes till I can figure out what to do. For now my main goal is to try and create the most suspenseful atmosphere/ environment that i can with quick shots with dim lighting.       According to Wikipedia, " Suspense is a state of mental uncertainty, anxiety, of being undecided, or of being doubtful. In a dramatic work, suspense is the anticipation of the outcome of a plot or of the solution to an uncertainty, puzzle, or mystery, part...

Production 2 -Shooting Locations

Image
Shooting Locations: My goal is to have shots moving at a quick pace to build suspense, include a lot of jump cuts to different angles in order to keep the audience at the edge of their seats.  Locations: School- Classroom & Hallway  Hospital Front Car       Considering i am an online student- i can't film on campus during school hours, and i'm not sure how i would get it done after school hours considering my film needs shots of a school in session as well as school out of session in order to demonstrate the contrast before and after the horrid of the virus. As of now my idea is to get shots at my old school since my friends are all in person kids and could possibly assist me with getting shots of classrooms. If that's not possible i'm going to have to alter the storyboard although it does really make the plot more suspenseful.      For my other scenes in the car and at the hospital front- i'm planning on getting those done this upc...
